Ipamorelin was described by Raun and colleagues at Novo Nordisk as the first GHS-R1a agonist to release GH in animal models without measurable effect on ACTH or cortisol at comparable concentrations. That selectivity profile is why it remains the reference secretagogue in pituitary cell-culture and pulsatility studies.
