Kisspeptin-10 is the C-terminal RF-amide decapeptide of the KISS1 gene product. Discovery of loss-of-function GPR54 mutations established the kisspeptin-GnRH axis as the gatekeeper of reproductive-axis activation, and the peptide is now the standard agonist in hypothalamic GnRH-pulse and puberty-onset research in rodents and primates.
